The Marriott Hotel, Ikeja is a 251 room/key development located in Ikeja GRA on a ±7,000sqm site that can be accessed from Oba Aladejobi Street and Joel Ogunnaike Street. It is a 7-storey project and is being developed by Sifax Group. Similar to the Marriott under construction in Victoria Island, Marriott Ikeja was also designed by G1 Architecture, however Dori Construction and Engineering are the main contractors. Sifax Group hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the Marriott Hotel Ikeja in August 2014 and completion is expected in 2018, however completion dates typically change.

The brand will be a full service Marriott, with facilities including lobby with retail outlets, ballroom and pre-function catering for 800 – 1,000, executive lounge, business centre with meeting, seminar, board rooms, 3 – 4 food and beverage outlets including all day dining, speciality restaurants and a rooftop club/bar. Other leisure features include a spa, gym, fitness club as well as an outdoor swimming pool and deck area.

Hotels nearby in the Marriott portfolio include the Protea Hotel Select in Alausa, Ikeja ($245/night) and the soon to open Africa Pride Hotel on Isaac John Street which is also in GRA. Other international hotels in the immediate area include the longstanding Sheraton Lagos ($312/night).

The supply of international standard hotels in Ikeja, especially the more affluent GRA region, is currently limited, and this has continued to attract investment attention for the area. As noted earlier, hotels in the Ikeja area serve the demand for customers that require proximity to the airport, such as air crews and transient guests. Being the seat of the Lagos State Government, as well as the home for industrial estates and other businesses, there is enough commercial activity to sustain a thriving hotel market.
