Agility, a global leader in the provision of integrated logistics is making a big Africa push as they have commenced the process of funding and developing a network of international standard warehouse parks across key markets on the continent to support the development of domestic and regional trade.

The company has ongoing development projects in multiple African countries including in Mozambique, Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana, and Nigeria. During Q2:2018, Cummins, a global leader in the manufacturing of diesel engines, generators, filtration and associated engine components, leased warehouse space in Agility’s 120-acre warehouse park in the Tema region of Accra Ghana, for a new West African Distribution Centre that would help stock and distribute a range of over 10,000 spare parts their West African operations. According to Agility, location was a significant factor in Cummins’ selection, who point out that the park is eight kilometres from Ghana’s main seaport and is adjacent to the Aflao highway connecting Ghana to Ivory Coast, Togo, Benin, and Nigeria.

Other facilities under construction in Africa include a 120-acre warehouse park in Abidjan Cote D’Ivoire, a 73-acre warehouse park on Maputo Ring Road in Marracuene, Maputo in Mozambique and a 130-acre warehouse park on ‘Ibadan Road’ in Lagos, completion dates for these projects are spread between 2018 and 2019.

Geoffrey White, CEO Agility Africa, said,

“We believe that the provision of international standard warehouses in Africa for storage, distribution and light manufacturing is one of the fundamental building blocks necessary for economic growth. The Agility Warehouse Parks enable companies, whether multinationals such as Cummins, or small and medium enterprises, to access quality infrastructure easily, quickly and cost effectively.”
