All you need to know about Amazon’s first office in Lagos

Amazon Web Services has just opened its office at Number One on Victoria Island. In their announcement, AWS sub-Saharan Africa regional manager, Amrote Abdella noted that the office will serve to reinforce Amazon’s commitment to Africa. Located in Victoria Island, here’s what you need to know about Amazon’s new office building, Number One:

  

  1. The office is located on the corner of Akin Adesola Street and Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island in Lagos. 
  2. Formerly IMB Plaza, the development was developed by Green Eagle Realty, and designed by Chapman Taylor.
  3. With approximately 7,700sqm of office space, the building features 7 floors with renovations completed in June 2021
  4. The development is part of other prominent projects on Akin Adesola Street and Ahmadu Bello Street including; NestOil Towers, Dover Court, Novotel Hotel, First Pension Custodian Nigeria Limited HQ.
  5. Let and managed by Broll Properties, Number One is one of the most prominent buildings in Lagos with asking rents of approximately $650 per square meter per annum 
  6. Other notable features include a 1,000sqm for a restaurant on the 7th floor, Floor to ceiling height of 2.7m, Kitchenette on each floor,Café and Multilevel onsite parking.

This move comes against the backdrop of tech giants such as Microsoft, Oracle and Facebook, earlier entries into the market.
