The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa), a philanthropic organisation, recently kickstarted a series of high-profile projects in Nigerian institutions. The organization put forward these initiatives to redefine the landscape of education and learning in the country, bringing forth state-of-the-art facilities to foster student growth, development, and overall well-being. 

The new projects being sponsored by ASR Africa include:

• Ultra-Modern Student Centre at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Anambra state 
• Career Development and Counseling and Renewable Natural Resources Centres at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State

 

Ultra-Modern Student Centre at Nnamdi Azikiwe University

 

ASR Africa on Tuesday, 25th of July, 2023 commenced the construction of an ultra-modern student centre at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in fulfilment of the ₦1 Billion tertiary infrastructure grant awarded to the University in 2021 as part of the ASR Africa Tertiary Education Grants Scheme. 

This project aims to provide students with a conducive environment for learning, recreation, and personal development with features comprising:

• A sports centre.
• Information & Communication Technology (ICT) hub.
• Administrative offices.
• Amphitheatre.

Upon completion, the student centre will house state-of-the-art lecture halls, study lounges, recreational facilities, and spaces for various student-led activities. 

 

Career Development and Counselling and Renewable Natural Resources Centres at the University of Ibadan

 

Sequel to that, ASR Africa launched the construction of the “Career Development and Counselling Renewable Natural Resources Centres” at the University of Ibadan. This visionary initiative aims to provide students with counselling services, career guidance, and resources to nurture well-rounded graduates who are equipped to contribute to Nigeria’s sustainable development.

The building will feature:

• Career counselling offices.
• Seminar rooms.
• Resource libraries.
• Interactive learning areas.
