Circle mall has finally reopened, two years after being looted and burnt by Nigerians reacting to news of xenophobia in South Africa. The mall, operated by Retail Supermarket Nigeria Limited, is located at the Jakande roundabout in Lekki, Lagos. It has been in operation since December 2015, until the 22nd of October, 2020 when it was looted with its composite stores vandalized and major parts of it burnt.

Before its vandalization, it was a popular spot for residents of the Lekki-Jakande environment to spend time shopping and participating in leisure activities. The mixed-use development also doubled as a business center and hosted brands such as Shoprite, Odeva, Skechers, IMAX, and Grey Velvet.

In a statement released on the 31st of January 2022, RSNL announced their intention to reopen the mall later in the year. The chairman, Tayo Amusan, said “We’re excited to be reopening after a long hiatus. We have had tremendous support and we are looking forward to once again opening our doors to our customers in the Jakande, Lekki area and its environs”
