In August 2016, the Lagos State Government explained that the 4th (Ikate/Elegushi), 5th (Jakande) and 8th (VGC) roundabouts would be removed in a bid to decongest chronic traffic typically seen on the Lekki-Epe Express way. Once removed, the plan is to replace the large roundabouts with traffic lights, expanded roads, dedicated turning lanes as well as additional lay-bys.

Clearing of the roundabouts and initial works have already commenced. The photos and video below show what each roundabout will look like once it has been completed.
