Discussions around the construction of the 4th Mainland bridge in Lagos have resurfaced as the State Government disclosed works on the proposed N844 Billion (US$2.46B) bridge will commence before year-end.
Adebowale Akinsanya, Lagos’ Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure made this public at a press conference held to mark the 3rd Anniversary of the State’s Governor on the 19th of April 2018. He stated that the proposed 38km bridge which links the Ikorodu and Eti Osa Local Government areas was awarded in May 2017 but the award was terminated as a result of delays in the commencement of work by the contractors. The approved bidders will be announced by June 2018.
When the project was initially announced in May 2016, members of the project team included Visible Asset Limited, Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), Access Bank and many others.
As reported earlier, the proposed bridge is expected to be a four-lane dual carriageway, made up of 8 interchanges. Each carriageway will comprise of 3 lanes and a 2-meter hard shoulder on each side. It will also be completed through a Public Private Partnership (PPP).
