The Lagos State Government has launched an Electronic Real Estate Litigation System (Lis Pendens Electronic System) to provide easy access to relevant information on the legal status of registered Property.

According to Adeniji Kazeem, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, the Lis Pendens system will  provide its users with information on properties with a pending cases, those subject to litigation and also help in enhancing the due diligence process for property transactions. Kazeem was represented at the launch ceremony by Funmilola Odunlami, the Ministry’s Solicitor General/Permanent Secretary.

According to Kazeem: “The Lagos State Government has remained committed to protecting the interest of property/real estate investors across the State. With this initiative, the real estate sector is expected to further attract a significant amount of attention as well as accelerate development process in the sector.”

In mid-2017, Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode also commissioned the upgraded and redesigned Land Registry of the State as part of new reforms put in place to re-position land administration for efficiency.
