Last month, Marriott Golf, the global golf division of Marriott International, Inc., announced it had signed a deal to manage yet another golf resort property. The Arabella Golf Club is the latest addition to Marriott’s golf resort portfolio. It is Marriott’s first-ever managed golf resort property in South Africa.

The move, affirms Marriott’s long-term commitment to evolving Protea Hotels from a strong regional player to a globally recognized brand with an international appeal by leveraging the power of Marriott. The golf club is located at the Arabella Hotel & Spa – part of African Pride Hotels, which Marriott acquired in 2014 when it purchased the Protea Hospitality Group.

The hotel has 145 guest rooms, 1,114.8 m² of function space and is surrounded by the magnificent Kogelberg mountain range and Bot River Lagoon hosting a handful of top golfers and celebrities over the years. The 18-hole, Par 72 Championship course was designed and built by the acclaimed South African golf course architect Peter Matkovich in 1999 and is ranked in the top 10 golf courses in South Africa.

Speaking on the latest addition to Marriott Golf portfolio, Jim Keane, a Senior Director of Golf Operations & Development Planning, Marriott International, Inc. said;

As of December 2017, Marriott’s Global Golf Division has more than 50 courses in 15 countries across five continents, under its management. In addition to Arabella Golf Club, the division in 2017 added resort golf facilities in Fiji, New Caledonia, Uruguay, Spain, and Portugal.
