GRIT Real Estate Income Group announced plans to construct a hospital along Nairobi’s Ngong’ Road area, as well two data center facilities at Ruiru’s Tatu City, and Mlolongo area along Mombasa Road. Construction of the projects whose value and facilities composition is yet to be disclosed, is expected to commence in Q3 ‘2023, as per the announcement made on 3rd May 2023. 

Grit’s incoming health care facility comes at a time when there is a continuous growing need for adequate health care services mainly driven by a rapidly growing population and urbanization growth rate currently at 1.9% and 3.7%, respectively, in Kenya. Moreover, Ngong Road positions itself as a viable investment area given its proximity to Nairobi’s city center, adequate infrastructure and surrounding amenities.

  • Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH)

Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) is a public hospital run by the Ministry Of Health. It is located along Hospital Road in Upper Hill, 1.4 Km off Ngong Road. It was founded in 1901 and as such the oldest hospital in Kenya. It currently has a capacity of 1,800 beds. Sample services offered at KNH include: Surgical, Renal Unit, Accident and Emergency, Dental, Ear Nose and Throat (ENT), Cancer Treatment Centre, Cardiology, Dermatology, Nutrition, Mental Health, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Rehabilitation, Gynaecology, and Research.

  • The Nairobi Hospital

The Nairobi Hospital is a private hospital located in Kilimani, along Ngong Road. It was officially opened on 9th April 1954 with its original name being the European Hospital, and later changed to The Nairobi Hospital on 19th October 1961. It is currently owned by the Kenya Hospital Association (KHA). The hospital has a capacity of 363 beds, and with an array of medical services offered which include but not limited to: Surgical, Research, Pharmacy, Radiology, Dental, Endoscopy, Accident and Emergency, Psychosocial, Ambulance, Gynaecology, Antenatal, and Maternity services.

  • Coptic Hospital

Coptic Hospital Nairobi was established in 1994 as a mission hospital, part of the Coptic Orthodox Church. It is located along Ngong Road, near China Centre Place in Kilimani. It has a capacity of 250 beds, and with some of the medical services offered at the facility being; Pharmacy, Dental, Psychiatry, Gynaecology, Antenatal, Maternity, Oncology, Orthopedic, ICU, Neurology, and Surgery.

  • The Nairobi Women’s Hospital

The Nairobi Women’s Hospital is a private hospital located off Ngong Road, in Kilimani. It was founded in 2001 by Dr. Sam Thenya, and currently has a capacity of 654 beds. Sample services offered at the hospital include; Laboratory, Radiology, Maternity, Pharmacy, Accident and Emergency (A&E), Casualty.
