Ultra-luxury hotel group, Nobu Hotels, is poised to host its first set of overnight visitors in its Moroccan hotel on the 23rd of January, 2023. Nobu Marrakech, formerly The Pearl Marrakech, is a collaboration between Hivernage Collection, MC Hotels, and Nobu Hospitality. Located close to Marrakech city center, the hotel will join a portfolio of ultra-luxury hotels located in select locations around the world including Los Cabos, Malibu, Ibiza, Santorini, and Barcelona.

 

Nobu Hotel Marrakech is the first of 5 hotels scheduled to launch in 2023 as the brand marks its 10th anniversary. The brand’s flagship African hospitality unit consists of 71 spacious suites, amongst which is the Nobu Penthouse suite. This offers a luxury penthouse experience for up to six guests, featuring a wrap-around veranda that offers a pristine view of the infamous Atlas mountains, and an in-suite bar.

 

One of the hotel’s key features is the luxury Pearl Spa, regarded as one of the biggest in Marrakech with 14 private treatment rooms located over 2,000 sqm. Additionally, the hotel has three swimming pools – one of which is a circular all seasons pool. Guests of the hotel can enjoy a 360-degree Moroccan skyline on the hotel’s breathtaking terrace. The hotel offers a good range of health and leisure activities to guests looking to experience the city including sunset camel rides, quad biking, and open air dining. It also offers upscale dining options to guests with the Nobu Restaurant, and Nobu bar and lounge – all named after and headed by Nobu Matsuhisa.

 

Marrakech is a Prime Location for Hospitality Investments

 

The launch of Nobu Hotels in Marrakech is not surprising. While the overall hospitality sector in Morocco remained relatively subdued in early 2022, Marrakech still performed better than Casablanca. According to STR, the city recorded occupancy rates of 35% compared to Casablanca’s 29% in the Year to April 2022. Furthermore, Marrakech’s ADR (Average Daily Rate) was recorded at US$207 compared to Casablanca’s US$94 during the same period. The City’s rate was also one of the highest recorded across Africa compared to cities such as Cairo(US$114), Nairobi(US$100) and Lagos (US$140). As a result, it has a healthy pipeline of hospitality developments set to provide almost 800 rooms to visitors of the vibrant city.
