Radisson Hotel Group just announced the signing of a Park Inn by Radisson Longacres, Lusaka, with the Public Service Pension Fund (PSPF).  The hotel will be located in the Longacres suburb of the country’s capital, close to the city’s concentration of embassies, diplomatic missions and the UN offices.

The Park Inn by Radisson Lusaka Longacres is one of the components of a larger mixed-use development – Long Acres Mall & Business Park – that will comprise a 9,000sqm shopping mall, office block, and entertainment area. The shopping mall and office block was commissioned in May 2017 and is targeted for completion in 2019.  The estimated construction cost is US$72 million.

The Park Inn will be the second Radisson branded property in Zambia – the first being the Radisson Blu Hotel Lusaka, which opened in 2012.  The Park Inn is expected to open in 2020, and is planned to include 136 rooms & suites, an all-day dining restaurant & bar, meetings & events space – with a ballroom, three meeting rooms, a boardroom – and a well-equipped gym.  PSPF commented on the deal signing, saying:

“We are delighted to partner with the Radisson Hotel Group in introducing the Park Inn by Radisson brand to Lusaka. Together, we believe we will create a must-stay destination hotel in Lusaka, which will provide individuals and families with a simple yet memorable value option for their travels to Zambia…We look forward to a long-standing and mutually beneficial relationship with the group.”

The Radisson Hotel Group’s portfolio in Africa consists of 83 hotels and more than 17,500 rooms in operation, and under development.  Park Inn by Radisson is the group’s upper midscale, full service brand.  The brand is vibrant, colorful, contemporary, and is aimed at business and leisure guests.  The hotels are usually located in capital cities, around economic and transit hubs, and conveniently near airports and railway stations.  The Park Inn by Radisson brand operates in other African markets including South Africa, Kenya, Rwanda, and Nigeria.
