Our report covers the 54 countries in Africa,
comprising North Africa (Morocco, Algeria,
Tunisia, Libya and Egypt), sub-Saharan Africa
and the Indian Ocean islands (Seychelles,
Mauritius, Comoros and Madagascar), and
provides consistent, reliable and comparable
data on the development pipeline activity of
the hotel chains who are operating in Africa,
and those who are seeking to enter the
continent for the first time.
This report has been compiled using the data
on signed deals in early 2022 from 42 regional
(African) and international hotel chains. To
be included in this report, Africa-based
chains need to operate in (or are planning
on expanding into) more than one country
on the continent, and the international hotel
chains in more
than one country
globally. We do not,
therefore, include
hotel chains which
are domestic, i.e.
operate in only one
African country.
