The data centre space is set to grow by 5.5% in 2022, with a vast amount of capital entering the
industry from private equity firms, hedge funds, pension offices and other atypical data centre
investors. The sector is playing an increasingly central role in the ongoing growth of global IT
spending, which is projected to exceed $4.6 trillion in 2023.
It is clear that 2022 is a year of emerging investment trends, explosive growth, and new risks, so we are
setting out to investigate these factors at the source.
In partnership with Digital Infrastructure Advisors Ltd, The Tech Capital set out to analyse the market
conditions and challenges faced by investors today, and to gain insight into how they plan to maintain
and maximise asset value. We achieved this goal via a detailed investor survey, enabling us to also
gauge the perceived risks and rewards of digital infrastructure investing, and the expectations for
market growth and ESG in the future.
Our executive summary highlights some of the most outstanding findings from this year’s survey, and
the report explores these results in greater depth.
