The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) in March
2023 raised the Central Bank Rate (CBR) from 8.75
percent to 9.50 percent in order to further anchor
inflation expectations. The MPC noted the sustained
inflationary pressures, the elevated global risk and
their potential impact on the domestic economy,
and they concluded that there was scope for a
further tightening of the monetary policy
