Kenya’s Affordable Housing Program (AHP) was officially launched in 2017 to curb the existing housing deficit, while also giving the lower and middle-income citizens a chance to own decent homes in the country. Notably, the government has made significant efforts to implement the program.
In this report, we focus on Kenya’s AHP progress since its
official inception, its affordability with a spotlight on the
Nairobi Metropolitan Area (NMA), unit size evolution, and
key setbacks hampering the initiative’s progress. We
also provide key recommendations that can be
implemented, to help improve the initiative’s progress
and performance.
