Sogenal Group and their partners Eris Property Group on Wednesday unveiled the design of their new 14 story high-rise office tower, which will be located on Kingsway (Alfred Rewane) Road in the upmarket Ikoyi neighbourhood of Lagos, Nigeria. The eagerly awaited development represents Sogenal & Eris’ commitment to invest in the largest economy in Africa. The 11,560m² project is expected to be completed in H2:2018 and will provide up to 1,000 jobs during the period of construction.

According to the developers, the new office tower promises to invigorate urban life and serve as a beacon for Sogenal Group at this prime location on the corner of Kingsway (Alfred Rewane) and Cameron Road. It will sit between Heritage Place and Temple Tower.

The project is one of many that the Momentum Africa Real Estate Fund is behind. Capital for this fund is being raised by Momentum IM and Eris Property Group. They intend on capping aggregate commitments at $250 million this month when the fund finally closes. When the fund raised $150 million in August 2015, Momentum explained that the successful fund raise is in direct response to client demand to capitalize on Africa’s growing need for quality retail, office and industrial real estate.

Sogenal Tower is designed by Boogertman & Partners Architects in collaboration with James Cubitt Architects. The building draws inspiration from the many patterns and textures of Nigeria as reflected in the glass façade. The glass façade gives lightness to its mass, and transparency both from within, maximising views, and from the exterior, resulting in a crystalline sculptural mass with strong verticality and slenderness through layered facades. Other members of the project team include Profica, MOA, KOA, Tillyard Consultants and a few others.

Otunba Funso Lawal, Chairman of the Sogenal Group explained:

“From the beginning, Sogenal’s leadership sought to build a development that would be representative of our corporate ethos of doing the right thing…To us, that meant designing a building of enduring beauty and value that respectfully balances the expectations of our clients with the desire for a state-of-the-art workplace, while making significant contributions to Lagos’s urban vitality. I believe our design successfully achieves these goals.”
