The 5-floor development is a 130-bed specialist facility dedicated to paediatrics. Construction of the New Massey’s Children Hospital started in Q1:2021 and is slated for completion in Q4:2025. Upon completion, the hospital will be the largest children's hospital in Sub-Saharan Africa.

This new hospital will be a significant upgrade to the current 60-year-old Massey Street Children's Hospital, located on Massey Street, Lagos Island, with 56 beds. According to the commissioner for health in a statement, the development is currently undergoing accreditation processes for both LEED and EDGE certifications, which will further validate the developer’s commitment to environmentally friendly practices.

According to the Lagos State Government, the hospital will provide patient-centred treatment to both inpatients and outpatients and reduce baby and mother mortality when completed.

This development will join other healthcare developments in Lagos Island include: CBN Hospital, Saint Nicholas Hospital, Lagos Island Maternity Hospital.

Other notable children's hospitals in Lagos include South Shore Women's and Children's Hospital in Victoria Island and The Children's Practice located in Ikoyi.
