The United States Consulate General, Lagos Nigeria is a Federal United States owned development initiated by the United States (Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations) and proposed to serve as the United States Consulate in Lagos. Its location, Eko Atlantic is a prime development in Victoria Island which once completed will provide modern infrastructures for the community.
Eko Atlantic is an approximately $6 billion project that will add approximately c.8.19 million square meters of reclaimed land to the shores of Victoria Island in Lagos. It commenced in 2003 and currently has other developments such as Arkland’s A&A Towers, Eko Pearl Towers, Periwinkle Residences’ Pan Atlantis Towers.
The project is being developed by the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) who have been involved in 168 new diplomatic facilities, with up to 50 active projects, either in design or under construction worldwide. The main contractor, Pernix Group is a leading construction company with an award as one of the top 50 US Contractors working abroad. Its Architect, Ennead Architect are also world class Architects having participated in the design of several World projects. ATO Architects who is the Local Architect of the project have been involved in projects in Nigeria including: Africa Reinsurance House, FIRS Headquarters.
The development’s location remains Victoria Island as the current consulate building is located at No 2 Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island. It’s location therefore makes it accessible to other prime areas in Lagos, such as Lekki Phase I, Ikoyi, and Yaba as well as major bridges like the Third mainland Bridge and the Ikoyi Link Bridge.
The project will include: Offices, Consular Services, Cafeteria, Multipurpose Room, Recreational Facilities, Warehouse, Shops, Entrance Pavilions, Ornamental staircases, Parking Garage, Utility Building, Boat Dock and Pedestrian Bridges.
