Talking about living in the sky, the Leonardo, which began construction on November 17, 2015, is a 55-floor mixed-use building standing at 234m(767ft) high, featuring luxury residential apartments, offices, shopping stores, restaurants, and lifestyle recreation areas. The architectural masterpiece located at Maude St, Sandown, Sandton South Africa, currently ranks as the tallest building in Africa, taking over from Carlton Centre which stands at 223m (732ft) tall.
The building’s architectural design was crafted by Co-Arc International, developed by Nedbank Property Partners in collaboration with Legacy Group. Besides ranking as the tallest building in Africa, Co-Arc revealed that the design team was predominantly women-led, making it a ground-breaking development considering the fact that only 21% of South Africa’s registered architectural professionals are women, according to the SA Institute of Architects in the Eastern Cape.
The Leonardo is equipped with 1300 parking bays, Two-hundred and thirty-four apartments (234) apartments, Ten floors ear-marked for hotel use, Eight Penthouses with gardens and the Leonardo suite.
