The Nigerian Police Force via a press release has announced a collaboration with private developers to undertake the Police Housing Scheme in a bid to redevelop police barracks nationwide to a modern standard. This move is a response to the dilapidated state of the police quarters and the dire need for housing upgrades for members of the police force.
Consequently, members of the police force currently inhabiting the barracks will be offered temporary relocation assistance of ₦2 million as the quarters undergo development. Notably, Falomo Barracks A and B located in Falomo, Lagos are the first facilities to undergo redevelopment under this scheme due to their critical state. The rehabilitation is expected to take 18 months with completion expected in Q4 2025.
This news thereby quells rumors of the sale of the Falomo barracks and highlights the current administration’s continued interest and investment in mass housing schemes.
