Chinese investments in Africa have been on the rise owing to the region’s position as a business hub, coupled with increased funding. Approximately 31.4% of mega projects in Africa are done by Chinese organizations according to Deloitte. Similarly, CRJE, has been on an aggressive path to implement and deliver mega projects in East Africa, with a major focus on the infrastructure, institutional, commercial, hospitality, and organizational projects. This indicates the firm’s investment appetite for the region, while also increasing its footprint. Tanzania in this case, has also in the past presented investment opportunities for the firm, given that more than 40% of projects are done by Chinese companies, which in turn boosts economic growth. Notably, CRJE has constructed more than 3 Million SQM of all types of developments in Tanzania as highlighted by the media, with some of the projects being:
- Tanzania’s New Parliamentary Debating Chamber
Tanzania’s New Parliamentary Debating Chamber in Dodoma was established in 2006 by CRJE. The development was the first in East Africa to adopt indigenous themes in its design (conical roofs, and revolving aluminum fins controlling the amount of sunlight entrance among others), with the architect being K&M Archplans.

- Uhuru Heights
Uhuru Heights is a mixed use building located in Tanzania’s Dar Es Salaam city. It was constructed in 2012 by CRJE, whereas the architect was Rushikesh. It’s one of the tallest buildings in Tanzania, with 27 floors.

- The Residence Zanzibar
The Residence Zanzibar is a luxury hotel development located at Kizimkazi, in Tanzania’s Zanzibar Island. It comprises villas sitting on a 32 hectare piece of land along the Indian Ocean, with total rooms amounting to 66. It was constructed in 2011 by CRJE, with Cenizaro Hotels & Resorts Company as the owner. Amenities at the Residence include: Spa and wellness, events and meetings, among many others.
