The 155-room Renaissance Hotel Ikeja, which opened in October 2016, has now been rebranded to Radisson Blu as of January 1st, 2018.  The hotel was Marriott’s first push of its Renaissance brand into the sub-Saharan African market, and Avalon Intercontinental’s third internationally-branded hotel in Nigeria.

Avalon Intercontinental, who own the property, also own the Protea Victoria Island and the Protea Ikeja – both of which are franchised from Marriott, and managed by BON Hotels International West Africa. BON Hotels is a South African-based hotel group who currently operate six hotels in Nigeria (with seven more hotels in the pipeline).  Some of its portfolio were previously branded Protea Hotels that have been rebranded to BON Hotels.

Marriott and Avalon Intercontinental abruptly ended the management agreement that granted the former party the right to brand and manage the concerned property as a Renaissance.  Avalon Intercontinental have subsequently signed an agreement with Carlson Rezidor, who will brand and manage the property as a Radisson Blu. This will be Carlson Rezidor’s second Radisson Blu branded hotel in Nigeria after the Radisson Blu Victoria Island, and its third branded property, counting the Park Inn by Radisson, Abeokuta.
