According to the Kenya Green Building Society (KGBS), there are 89 green certified buildings in the country. Below are the top green office buildings in Nairobi, Kenya:
- Britam Tower
Britam Tower is a Grade A commercial office building located along Hospital Road, in Upperhill, Nairobi. It was the first EDGE Certified Building in Kenya. The certification was awarded to Britam in June 2018 for making 39% energy savings, 50% water savings, and using 38% less embodied material energy. Key sustainability measures include but are not limited to:
- External shading devices
- Insulation of roof
- Low-e coated glass,
- Dual flush for water closets in bathrooms
- Water-efficient urinals in all bathrooms
Owned by Britam Group, the construction of this skyscraper began in 2013, and was completed in 2017. It currently stands as the tallest building in Kenya, at 201 meters high. The construction project team consisted of:

The pre certificate was awarded to the Vienna Court in 2016, having achieved a 62% reduction in energy consumption, 40% reduction in water consumption, and a 79% environmentally sustainable site. Key sustainability measures include but are not limited to:
- Solar control glass
- Balconies with solar shading
- Provisions for rainwater harvesting
- Onsight renewable energy
- Certified wood

Key sustainability measures include but are not limited to:
- High thermal performance glazing
- LED efficient lighting
- Lighting control systems
- Solar PV systems
- Flow fixtures

The development achieved Preliminary EDGE Certification in November 2021, with a 27% energy savings, 41% water savings, and 33% reduction in energy embodied in materials. Key sustainability measures include but are not limited to:
- Higher thermal performance glass,
- Energy-saving bulbs for internal and external spaces,
- Occupancy sensors in offices,
- Low-flow faucets in bathrooms
- Water-efficient faucets and urinals
Construction of the project is expected to be completed by Q4:2024, with a team consisting of:

- Rainwater harvesting
- Onsite wastewater treatment plant with installed recyclability
- 20% regionally extracted materials

- single-flush water closets and urinals
- lighting controls for corridors and staircases
- Occupancy sensors in bathrooms
- Hollow core precast slab for the floors
