Kasada has recently announced its plans to build a dual branded hotel within a retail-led mixed-use development in Abidjan, Côted’ivoire. Kasada is an internationally renowned private-equity investment company, with expertise in the hospitality sector in Africa, and advised by the Kasada Capital Management part of the Kasada Group.
The development will be the first internationally branded hotel in the district of Angré, Abidjan. According to Olivier Granet, Kasada’s Managing Partner and CEO, the development will be a benefit to both clients and the community at large. The Press release further notes that; “….Through this greenfield program in this unique location, we demonstrate once more the innovative dynamics of Kasada.”
The hotel will be located within Abidjan’s largest retail-led mixed-use property to be built by HC Capital Properties. This larger development is scheduled for completion in 2024 and will have features including:
- Over 150 hotel keys
- EDGE Certification
- a shopping center with over 60 stores,
- restaurants,
- a mini entertainment park,
- offices,
- a co-working space, and
- a clinic
HC Capital Properties is the developer of Cosmos Youpogon, a Grade A mall in CÔted’ivoire, having the highest footfall in the city. The mall is also the first in the city to have an EDGE-Green building certification.
This announcement is coming a few weeks after Kasada Albatross Holdings, a Mauritius-based subsidiary of Kasada Hospitality Fund LP completed its acquisition of the former Southern Sun Hotel Ikoyi, Nigeria. Kasada already has a diverse portfolio of hospitality assets across Africa including:
- Ibis hotels in Cameroon, Senegal, and Ivory Coast,
- Novotel Hotels, Suites, and Resorts in Ivory Coast and Senegal
- Pullman Hotels and Resorts in Ivory Coast and Senegal
- Mercure Hotel (formerly Crowne Plaza) in Kenya
- Safari Court Hotel and Conference Center in Namibia
- Cape Grace Hotel in South Africa
- Lamantin Beach Resort and Spa in South Africa
Other renowned African hospitality groups have been recently making waves like the announcement of:
- Nobu Marrakech Hotel opening by Nobu Hotels Group in Morocco,
- IHG’s partnership with Msafiri to boost its hotel portfolio across African markets, and
- MAREF’s construction of Sommerset, Rosslyn in Kenya, and many others.
These activities show the increasing interest and growth in Africa’s hospitality market.
